Got questions? We’ve got answers!
At Summit All Terrain Rentals, we’re more than just a rental shop, we’re your gateway to the Big Sky backcountry. As a Polaris Adventures-certified outfitter, we offer premium, high-performance machines that are new, finely tuned, and built for Montana’s rugged terrain.
We’re also the closest rental location to the Buck Ridge trailhead in Big Sky and the Little Bear trailhead in Bozeman, meaning less time driving and more time exploring. Every ride includes GPS navigation, safety gear, and insurance options for both medical and damage coverage, making it the safest and easiest way to experience Big Sky’s backcountry.
In Big Sky, our rides depart directly from the Buck Ridge trailhead, just steps from our shop. We’re located on the same property as The Corral Bar & Steakhouse on Highway 191, about 10 minutes south of Big Sky and 60 minutes from Bozeman.
In Bozeman, our rides depart just 25 minutes south of town on the Little Bear trail system, offering quick and easy access to the mountains without the crowds.
Because we’re the closest outfitter to the trailhead in both locations, your adventure starts as soon as you check in. This means no trailers or extra transport needed. Gear up, get a safety briefing, and ride straight out onto the trail.
In the summer, both our Big Sky and Bozeman locations offer incredible GPS-guided, out-and-back mountain rides through the Gallatin National Forest on scenic Forest Service trails. No matter which you choose, you’ll experience the beauty of Montana’s backcountry.
Our Big Sky location (Buck Ridge) offers both 2- and 4-hour ride options and takes you up to over 9,000 feet in elevation, with sweeping 360-degree views of Lone Peak, Sphinx Peak, and the Spanish Peaks.
Big Sky also offers something extra, it’s home to The Corral Bar & Steakhouse, an authentic Montana cowboy bar located right on the property. It’s the perfect place to grab food and drinks after your ride and truly round out the full Montana experience.
Our Bozeman location (Little Bear area) offers a 2-hour ride that leads to Big Bear Lake. It’s the perfect spot to stop for a quick picnic, take in the views, and enjoy a break before heading back. This location is especially popular for families and is open Monday through Thursday.
Whichever location you choose, you won’t be disappointed, both offer unforgettable views and a true Big Sky Country adventure. If you’re deciding between the two, availability may help guide your choice, as Bozeman operates Monday through Thursday while Big Sky is open all week.
Yes! The Buck Ridge trail and the Little Bear trail are two of the safest options in the Gallatin National Forest. They’re wide, well-marked, and perfect for riders of all experience levels. Every rental comes equipped with Polaris Ride Command GPS navigation, so you can explore confidently without the need for a guide. You’ll always know exactly where you are on the trail.
We also include safety gear with every ride, helmets and goggles are provided , along with insurance coverage that includes both medical and damage protection giving you extra peace of mind while you’re out adventuring. It’s the safest and most enjoyable way to experience Big Sky’s backcountry.
Every Summit ATR Polaris Adventures rental includes insurance for both vehicle damage and medical, so you can ride with confidence.
We offer two deductible options for vehicle insurance to fit your comfort level.

Reservations are always recommended, especially during weekends, holidays, and peak seasons, our machines often book out in advance. Booking ahead guarantees your ride time and preferred machine type.
That said, walk-ins are always welcome! If we have availability, we’re happy to get you out on the trail the same day.
You can easily reserve your ride online or by phone, and a 20% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your slot.
Need to make changes? We can adjust your reservation without penalty.
Cancellation Policy:
- A 20% non-refundable deposit is required when you book.
- If you cancel more than 48 hours before your scheduled rental time, you forfeit your 20% deposit but are not charged further.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of your rental time (or no-show), you are charged the full rental amount.
We ride rain, snow, or shine! The mountains can change fast, and a little weather often makes the adventure even more fun! However, if conditions ever become unsafe, we’ll work with you to reschedule your ride.
In the summer, we offer Sensible Weather Protection for RZR rentals. This allows you to reschedule or be refunded for your ride in the event of unsafe or severe weather (like lightning or heavy storms), so you can ride another day with better conditions. This can be purchased when you make a reservation online.
In the winter, snowmobiling is an all-weather adventure! Our machines are built to handle fresh snow and variable conditions with ease.
In the winter, drivers must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license to operate a snowmobile. However, the person renting the equipment (the one signing the rental agreement and responsible for the machines) must be at least 25 years old.
In the summer, drivers must be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license to operate a side-by-side (RZR) and at least 25 years old to rent.
Passengers are welcome as long as they meet the minimum height and safety requirements for the machine type. Helmets are required and provided for all riders, and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver before riding.
These guidelines are set by Polaris Adventures and our insurance provider to ensure the safety of all riders. Age requirements help ensure drivers have the maturity, experience, and judgment needed to operate high-powered machines safely in changing terrain and weather conditions.
We provide all the essentials; your machine, helmets, goggles, and GPS navigation, but there are a few things you’ll need to bring for check-in and a comfortable day on the trail.
Before your ride, please bring:
-
A valid driver’s license or government-issued ID for ALL participants. This is required for waivers and check-in. (Minors will be listed on a parent or guardians waiver)
Winter Rides (Snowmobiles):
-
Warm, waterproof layers (dress like you’re going skiing)
-
Neck gaiter or balaclava (for warmth under your helmet)

Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled ride time. This allows enough time for check-in, signing waivers, reviewing the safety briefing, and getting fitted for helmets and gear.
